How do you know if your vehicles tires need replaced?
The state of Rhode Island requires you to replace your tires at 2/32” tread depth however it is advised to replace them at about 4/32” depth to provide better traction in wet conditions. An easy way to test your tires tread depth if you do not have a gauge handy is to put a penny between the treads, if Lincolns head is exposed on the penny it’s over due to replace your tires.
Worn tires due to a misalignment of the vehicles can wear unevenly causing the tires belts to show on one side of the tires but look fine on another. Tires can also become warped over time causing a consistent vibration when driving.
Dry rotted tires are also another cause of concern to replace your tires. Your tires sidewalls and inside the treads will have spider like cracks thru ought the rubber.
Nail punctures to close to the sidewall or bubbles on the side wall from hitting curbs will also require a tire replacement.
